I’m Michael Gueary, a certified strength coach and sports nutrition specialist with over a decade of experience in the world of functional strength. My passion for fitness and well-being began in my hometown, Houston, where I was three sport athlete in high school. My sports and academic journey continued at McMurry University where I played collegiate football. There, I earned my Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and Human Performance, specializing in Personal and Community Fitness. This academic foundation provided me with a deep understanding of the human body and how it responds to training and well balanced nutrition.

My career has been marked by exciting opportunities with prestigious fitness clubs and sports organizations including Equinox, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Houston Rockets. Before You Start:

Prior to starting your program, a “Start Smart” full body assessment will take place to help you understand where you stand in terms of your mobility and fitness level. It will give me an opportunity to provide you useful insights and help formulate a custom training program to help you safely and effectively achieve your goals. During the smart start assessment you will be evaluated on seven fundamental movement patterns in people with no current pain complaint or musculoskeletal injury. This movement screening is not intended to diagnose orthopedic problems but rather to demonstrate opportunities for improved movement in individuals. 

The screening is designed to place you in positions where movement deficits become noticeable if appropriate stability and mobility are not used. Even though individuals are performing an activity or sport at a high level, it has been observed that many of these same individuals are limited in fundamental movement. This leads to the use of compensatory movements in order to achieve or maintain the level of performance needed for the activity. The inefficient use of compensation during movement will lead to poor biomechanics that limit gains in performance and reduces the body’s ability to remain adaptable and durable against the risks of being involved in the activity or sport.

Improved Movement Patterns

The human body is made to move. It’s specifically designed to function most efficiently when moving in an upright position with the feet on the ground. 

Coordination and Mobility 

Coordination training helps with many aspects of people’s health and wellbeing. It improves technique and form, enhances mood and mental health and combats the risk of injury down the line. 

Whole body strength

Whole body strength is crucial for overall physical well-being. It enhances functional fitness, supports daily activities, improves posture, reduces the risk of injuries, and contributes to better balance and stability. Additionally, it positively impacts metabolism and bone density, promoting long-term health.

Mental Health 

Regular physical activity, including overall fitness, has significant positive effects on mental health. It can reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, alleviate stress, improve mood, and enhance cognitive function. Exercise also promotes the release of endorphins, neurotransmitters that act as natural mood lifters. Overall, maintaining physical fitness contributes to a healthier mind-body connection. Being confident in a gym/ workout environment will carry over to other areas of your life such as your career. People who exercise tend to feel more positive about their self image which leads to more positive self talk.

Client Experiences

For more years than I care to count I avoided going to the gym; actually I avoided any gym. About five years ago one of my employees walked into my office and "invited" me to join her the gym that evening in the interest of living a longer and healthier life. After embarrassing myself in the introductory session I decided maybe I should actually join and soon thereafter was introduced to Mike Gueary.

Perhaps Mike saw this as a career opportunity as I was already well past sixty and there was clearly some work to be done. Alternatively maybe he saw it as "mission impossible." Regardless, we're both now five years down the road and still together. I feel much better than I did twenty years ago with a slimmer waist, better posture and considerably more strength. I still make a habit of breaking a fair amount of his nutritional guidelines but not as many as in the past.

Mike manages to keep it safe but not easy, as easy never produces results. Interesting conversation also helps the strenuous sessions pass quickly. Mike can be philosophical and is always socially and politically correct, while I tend to be somewhat the opposite and try to inspire more than embarrass. Having said that, the fact that I'm writing this testimony means my efforts have not been in vain either.

Bottom line - this guy is good and whether your aim is to reach your goals in six months or six years Mike will take you in the desired direction with the utmost of professionalism with your time and effort well rewarded.

My husband Jeff and I have worked with Mike G for about a year and half now and love the results. I have worked with trainers for years but as I have gotten a little older, so has my body, I need to be more cognizant of potential injuries. Mike is excellent at strengthening my weaknesses while increasing my overall strength and endurance. I hurt my knee a couple of years ago and I am now pain free. He keeps me challenged and motivated. I turned 60 this year and I am in better shape than I have been in 10 years. 

My husband has Ankylosing spondylitis, this disease causes inflammation of the spine and large joints and can be debilitating if you do not stay active. Mike works with Jeff on stretching and strengthening his spine to keep him active and flexible while increasing his overall strength and endurance. My husband was not a fitness fan historically and definitely not a morning person but he gets up 3 days a week and works out at 6 am religiously.

We highly recommend Mike and think he is an outstanding trainer and friend.

How do I schedule a session? 

You can schedule a session here on the website or reach out on the web form. 

What if I need to cancel? 

You may cancel or reschedule a session up to 24 hours before it is scheduled to start. You will be charged for the full cost of the session if you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours prior notice or if you failed to show up for your session. 

Do I need to sign a waiver prior to training?

Yes, all clients must sign a waiver before training. You can access, the waiver here.

How long are training sessions? 

Personal training and small group sessions are 55 mins long. Corporate wellness programs are customizable. 


Can I purchase single sessions or package?

Yes, you can purchase single sessions. However, it’s beneficial to purchase a package because you’ll save money and it comes with a complete program tailored for you.
